Today’s guest is an audience engagement specialist who founded DSTL, a new York based audience engagement consultancy that serves clients around the world. Kate Gardiner works with media brands to help them redefine their digital futures. She is also the co-founder and partner at AVG, a creative studio that works with media companies, and executive director of TheLi.st, a platform for women in business, technology and media. Kate has worked with big media names like Al Jazeera International, Newsweek, Voice of America, New York Public Radio among many others. She is a a member of the 2016 Forbes 30 under 30, a 2015-2016 #NextJ fellow for the Radio, Television and Digital News Association and a Young Leader on the National Committee for U.S.-China Relations.

With Kate, we learn how to clean up your mess on social media when you say the wrong thing. Hopefully none of you have experienced this, but a lot of important people with important jobs and a lot of audiences namely media companies, executives at companies have made boo boo’s on social media – so it happens. How does she recommend they go about repairing that? We also talk about turning a journalism degree into an entrepreneurial career and the challenges that come with teaching people, especially women, how to negotiate for more in the workplace.
