Ali Shapiro

Founder of Truce with Food

Today’s guest is a coach who helps people that are accomplished in life but battle with food.  Ali Shapiro developed her own innovative method, called Truce with Food, by combining her background in functional medicine and holistic nutrition while studying at the University of Penn. She also earned a Masters degree in coaching. Ali was inspired to help others after undergoing her own 18-year battle with dieting and having teenage cancer which also affected her relationship with food.  Now, Ali runs an annual Truce with Food program while also working with clients one-on-one.  Ali has a lot of projects in the works including the Truce with Food book and her own podcast, so stay tuned on that front.  She has been featured in major news publications including The Wall Street Journal, Huffington Post, Redbook Magazine, among countless others.

Three takeaways from our interview:

  1. Her new free program to help us with a health reboot after the holidays.
  2. The savvy business she ran from her home as a kid!
  3. How sticking to the basics of smart healthy living has helped her save money.

One of my favorite quotes from the interview: “I’m #SoMoney because I don’t play on women’s insecurities around food & body but I bet on their greatness.” – Click to Tweet

November is all about giving back at So Money®!

I’ve partnered with Joe Saul-Sehy, host of the Stacking Benjamins podcast to host a charity fundraiser/competition the entire month. He and I have each selected a personal charity and our goal is to raise tons of money with your help.

The So Money® charity is THON, a dance marathon and the largest student-run philanthropy held at Pennsylvania State University (my alma mater!) that helps raise money and awareness for the fight against pediatric cancer. You can donate here.

The Stacking Benjamins charity is Texas 4000, a 4,000 mile bike ride that University of Texas students take to raise money for cancer research and cancer related causes. You can donate here.

The podcast that receives the MOST money for its charity will win the chance to write the introduction to the other person’s podcast in January (buhahah!)

We’ll keep you updated throughout the month!
