Is there anything better than home-baked cookies? If you have a sweet tooth like me, you will appreciate the awesome deliciousness that comes from the award-winning Tate’s Bake Shop in Southampton, NY. A household name in our home, Tate’s Bake Shop was voted the Best Bakery in the Hamptons for years and became a destination for locals and tourists alike. Today’s guest is the founder and owner of this legendary bake shop, Kathleen King.

Kathleen started making simple, all-American desserts over 3 decades ago when she was just 11 years old and opened her first bake shop at 21. As the demand for her cookies kept growing, she launched a wholesale business, selling them to specialty and gourmet shops in Manhattan and at over 5,000 retailers throughout the United States and online, at her e-bakery, tatesbakeshop.com.

During our time together we learn:

— Losing everything, no money left to her name. $200,000 in debt.

— Her top money habit that helps her avoid wastefulness.

— The great lessons about making money from a very young age.
