People sometimes ask how we plan to teach my kids about money and while I think it’s important to teach things like delaying gratification, saving, needs versus wants, it’s also helpful to raise kids with an entrepreneurial mindset. And emphasize the benefits of generating ideas, executing on those ideas, creating a plan, learning how to sell, learning how to negotiate. And that brings us to today’s guest, JJ Ramberg who is, herself, an entrepreneur, an award-winning financial journalist and host of the popular MSNBC show, Your Business. She is also the co-author of the new children’s book: The Startup Club, which tells the story of two school age friends and the ups and downs of running a business together.
JJ is a mom of three and has lots of personal advice on how to engage young kids in discussions around money and business. When she’s not writing a book, hosting her TV show or managing a household of five, JJ also operates GoodSearch.com, a company she co-founded with her brother. GoodSearch.com is a search engine that donates 50 percent of revenue to the charities and schools its users designate.
