Today’s guest is the founder of Stella & Dot, Jessica Herrin. Many of you have asked me over the years, “Farnoosh, where do you get your jewelry?” And a lot of my jewelry comes from Stella & Dot. I’ve purchased from them as well as they’ve gifted me some pieces throughout the years, which I’ve then worn on television and then magazine shoots and on my website.
Well, Jessica Herrin is out with a new book. It came out yesterday, titled, “Find Your Extraordinary: Dream Bigger, Live Happier, and Achieve Success on Your Own Terms.” In the book, she discusses cultivating the entrepreneurial spirit, how she was able to do so and how you can, too.
A little bit more about Jessica… after joining two successful tech startups out of college, she went to the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where at just 24 years old she co-founded the website WeddingChannel.com, which is now one of the leading websites for brides-to-be. Jessicahas also been recognized for her business savvy by outlets including Oprah, The Wall Street Journal, New York Times among countless others. Jessica was also honored by Ernst & Young and Inc. 500 as a Top Entrepreneur. She is actively involved in the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) in the San Fran area.
In her book, she talks about how you don’t have to be perfect to start but you have to start to perfect. Brilliant words. I’m going to actually laminate that, put that somewhere in my office so I never forget it. She talks about her own dealings with failure and how those failures led to success. She also talks how she has been able to make her mark and be successful despite some discrimination and despite some gender biases as a female in Silicon Valley. We get real, raw and personal with Jessica Herrin.
